Tehran- Director of cold and semi-cold fruits in Iran Ministry of Agriculture informed about USA’s willing for importing Iran’s Pistachios and said: “the volume of Pistachio production in Iran was more than 250 thousand tons this year that has increased comparing to the previous year.”

IFIF Public Relations- Ramezan Ruintan, the Director General of cold and semi-cold fruits of Iran Ministry of Agriculture said: “the volume of Pistachio production in Iran was more than 250 thousand tons this year and this number has increased comparing to the previous year.  The volume of pistachio export was 94 thousand tons in the first 9 months of the year and this number had been decreased comparing to the numbers of previouys year year (134 thousand tons).

He pointed to the decline of export and mentioned: “unfortunately in 2015-2016 we increased the volume of pistachio production, but the figures of export has declined due to the mental effects of nuclear talks.

The Director General of cold and semi-cold fruits of Iran Ministry of Agriculture said: “the year has not met its end yet and we have some months remained. So it is possible to emphasize on the export of pistachios. I hope with lifting the international sanctions against Iran we would be able to increase the volume of export in agricultural sections and gain the first place in exporting pistachio in the world. “

“Right now, referring to America’s drought that affected the pistachio production, their willing to import Iran’s pistachio has increased. Although USA have set a high tariff for importing Iranian pistachio.” He said.

It should be mentioned that Iran’s pistachio is exporting to 70 different countries in the world and the volume of export of this commodity was 870 USD in the first 9 months of the year./s
